Alok Kejriwal has 32 years experience in the export and import business of packaging and raw materials for the Food, Pharmaceuticals and Liquor industries. He has travelled widely to create new business opportunities and to strengthen his business partnerships. He strongly believes that nothing is impossible.
Alok grew up in Mumbai, India in a family with a strong business tradition. After earning his B.S. degree in Computer Information Systems at Gallaudet University, Washington DC, U.S.A., he joined the family export business.
Alok Kejriwal strives hard towards the upliftment of the Deaf Community in India. He set up India Signing Hands Private Limited (ISH) for this purpose.
Alok Kejriwal has a track record in civic engagement and social responsibility over the years, including promoting the advancement of the Deaf community by leading efforts to educate society about the challenges faced by Deaf people in India and creating opportunities for their economic and social empowerment. His contributions include a presentation on “Deaf Entrepreneurs Emerging in Third World Countries” in Washington DC, USA in 2002. He was appointed a committee member of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
India Signing Hands (ISH) was founded on 24th April 2017 by Mr. Alok Kejriwal, with the goal of providing the solutions to “Accessibility” issues faced by the deaf people in India. Alok is a deaf individual who faced difficulties in acquiring news from TV channels or communicating with hearing people due to lack of accessibility tools. Based on his personal experiences, he realised the need for making news and entertainment content accessible to the Deaf Community in India and so ISH News – the First project under ISH was launched on 22nd November 2018. Today ISH’s staff comprises of 90% Deaf individuals, a few CODA’s and 1 hearing person.
Alok Kejriwal has won the India 500 CEO Award. Under Alok Kejriwal’s leadership ISH News won DLF Best News and Media Award 2019 and also India 500 Startup Awards. Alok Kejriwal won a Special Recognition in the field of “Corporate Social Responsibility” at CPHI, India Pharma Awards in 2018.
