As the Co-Founder and Managing Director, Akshay Parmar manages the back-end operations and finances of the group as well as spearheads its consultancy services division, leading the group’s consultancy projects in India and Africa. Being a key believer in the application of IT services to manage and maximize benefits in daily operations, he constantly works upon the Group's IT initiatives. Founded in 2009, Unihealth has expanded to having operations and offices across India, Middle East and Africa. Transcending across verticals including Healthcare Consultancy, Hospital Management, Medical Tourism, Pharmaceuticals, UniHealth provides complete healthcare solutions.
The Group consulted and managed the International Business of Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital, a 500-bedded hospital in Pune, India, spearheading its foray in the global healthcare provider industry. UniHealth has also been the joint-venture partner of Ethiopian Air to jointly promote and provide medical travel services across Africa.
Backed by its technical and operational expertise, it has established medical centers and tertiary-care hospitals in Uganda, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Mozambique under its Flagship brand, ‘UMC Hospitals’ and manages 200+ operational hospital beds and multiple specialty medical centers in these countries.
Under the able leadership of Dr. Akshay Parmar, Unihealth Consultancy Pvt Ltd has won many accolades. It was awarded ‘Company of the Year – Global Presence’ at SE Business Awards 2018. ‘Emerging Healthcare Company of the Year 2015’ at The Business Leaders’ Summit & Awards held in Mumbai. ‘Company of the Year for Valued Contribution in Indian Medical Tourism Industry’ Award at the CIMS Healthcare Excellence Awards 2015 held in Mumbai. ‘Best Medical Tourism Company of the Year 2014’ by Worldwide Achievers at a ceremony held in New Delhi.
Under Dhyaan Foundation, the Group supports the fight against COVID-19 by providing the frontline workers with PPE Kits. UMC Victoria Hospital, the Group’s flagship hospital in Kampala, Uganda, does free surgeries for under-privileged children with disabilities (orthopedic disabilities, tumors, etc.) and has partnered various local and international foundations to support this initiative and extend its reach. Dr. Akshay Parmar and Unihealth consultancy’s Mission 2025 is to have over 1000 operational tertiary care hospital beds across Africa over 25 Unihealth Medical & Diagnostic Centers functioning as feeders to the hospitals.
